About the game

A house full of people.
A life of your own.

The Mental House is an independently developed pixel-art browser game about shared living, family relationships and the work of becoming independent.

What you actually play

You play an individual in a household with people who have their own needs and goals. You make time for meals, rest, work, learning and relationships. Residents can start conversations, remember interactions and follow through—or fail to follow through—on plans. Choices influence the ongoing story rather than sending you through a single fixed sequence of answers.

Why mental health is part of the setting

Daily life includes different levels of energy, concentration, uncertainty and need for personal space. The game uses fictional resident profiles and ongoing routines to explore how those experiences may affect a shared household. A diagnosis is not a personality, and it does not guarantee a particular behavior.

New-game profile assignments and scene timing are game rules. They do not reflect clinical prevalence, diagnosis or prognosis. Characters keep their own preferences and autonomy. Helping with a meal or respecting a boundary may address an immediate need; it is not a treatment or an instant recovery.

Sources and limits

Clinical background is informed by public information from the US National Institute of Mental Health, including depression, ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD. These sources provide background; they do not endorse or clinically validate the game.

The game is fictional entertainment with educational themes. It is not medical advice, a diagnostic assessment, a substitute for professional care, or a service for urgent help.

A work in progress

The game is actively developed. Some systems are simplified and some animations are stylized. Its focus is making household choices understandable and playable while preserving saved progress. There is no account system, public chat or player marketplace.

Advertising and play

No ads are currently served. The playable house is kept free of advertising placements, including near movement buttons, furniture, dialogue choices and timed activities. Any future advertising would require separate implementation and privacy disclosures; Google approval is not implied.
